I knew your dreamsBecause we used to talkFor hours at a time.I knew your friendshipBecause you were always thereWhen I needed your comfort.I knew your painBecause you trusted me enoughTo share your past with me.I knew your fearsBecause you helped meTo see that mine were the same.I knew what was important to youBecause you were alwaysSo honest with me.I knew your goalsBecause I felt the enthusiasmIn your words when you talked of them.I knew your guidanceBecause you patiently explainedThe things I didn't understand.I knew your heartBecause I saw right into itAnd felt it a part of my own.I knew your honorBecause you let me goWhen I fell in love with you.And I knew your loveBecause you wouldn't let me dreamof us together.
